Jorge Garcia represents U.S., Mexican and Canadian companies and individuals in matters related to business operations and transactions in Mexico, the U.S. and Latin America.

Mr. Garcia has over 30 years of experience in the corporate, transactional, joint venture, distribution, real estate, technology and estate planning areas. He is a frequent speaker on cross-border and international business transactions, giving talks at universities and seminars throughout the United States and Mexico. Mr. Garcia also writes articles about cross-border legal issues for numerous trade magazines, newsletters and other publications.

Mr. Garcia’s legal experience includes the following:

  • Real Estate.-  Represented real estate developers, builders, owner-operators and contractors (industrial, tourism and residential) in multiple projects throughout Mexico in the acquisition, development, land use, management, leasing and disposal of properties.
  • Nearshoring. – Setting up nearshoring operations for multinational companies, including manufacturers (IMMEX – Maquiladoras) throughout Mexico, as well as distribution arrangements for central and south America.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions.- Represented U.S., Mexican and Canadian companies in the acquisition, financing and disposal of entities and assets in different industries.
  • Corporate.- Formation and structuring of corporate entities in Mexico and U.S. including strategies covering corporate, business immigration, tax, labor, environmental, customs and other commercial matters.
  • Finance.- Represented U.S. banks and other lenders including in the sale and finance of equipment and machinery and other financing facilities as well as asset securitization in Mexico and U.S.
  • Joint-Ventures.-  Establishing and managing joint-venture companies in the real estate, manufacturing, fishing, and agricultural industries.
  • Tourism and Hospitality.- Represented companies and investors in the acquisition, development, management, leasing and sale of real estate properties including Hotels, Condominiums, Apartments, Luxury Homes in tourism destinations throughout Mexico including through the set-up and use of Fideicomisos with Mexican Banks
  • Government and Regulatory.-  Regulatory work with federal and state agencies, including licensing and permitting in foreign investment, government concessions and antitrust, regulatory compliance and enforcement and rulemaking.
  • Family office.- Counseled high net worth families in setting up and managing cross-border matters for family offices including business structuring advise, wealth and tax planning, succession planning, estate and trust planning.
